Keeping up with the times and 1984 Socratic Seminar

Great job today in class! Your questions and comments were relevant, thought provoking, and rooted in both the non-fiction articles and the novel 1984.

Please reflect on our discussion and post your Socratic seminar reflection. Remember to include:

1.Based on this seminar, what are the most important points about this text?
 2. How does my understanding of the text connect to other things I’m learning?
 3. There are 3 main ideas I’m taking away from this seminar...
 4. What questions do I have as a result of this seminar?

Remember to be as specific as possible. For example, give a Socratic seminar SHOUT OUT, acknowledging something that was said by your classmates that made you better understand the text or maybe they said something that you never thought about before.

Your response should be about 2 paragraphs.Your reflection is due by Friday night (8pm). This deadline is to help you, so the ideas we discussed are still fresh and you can reflect on everything. If you want to continue talking about some of the ideas discussed let's use this space to continue the conversation.

For Monday, read pages 166-185. Please take notes.

Welcome

I have created this blog to serve as a form of communication from me to you, but also for you to use to post things to your classmates. I will be posting regularly and therefore some topics I will expect you to comment on for a grade, and other topics will be posted purely for your enjoyment :)

So how will this work? In class or through e-mail I will tell you when to check out our blog. If I tell you a comment is necessary then you will need to post your comment and sign your first and last name at the end, so I can give you credit for the assignment. If you have anything you want me to post email me at nrubinet@gmail.com. This could be almost anything. Maybe you want to remind your classmates about an event after school or maybe you just want your classmates to read something you have written and want our feedback. I will post your topic either with your name by it or anonymously. Let’s make it a great year!

It is today that we must create the world of the future.
